We are pleased to share the latest quarterly report on the Eureka SuperKidz initiative, which is being implemented in 10 villages with the support of Kwik Patch. Over the past few months, the program has seen consistent participation from children, along with encouraging improvements in their learning outcomes.
From early January to March 2025, the program delivered targeted after-school education to children from Classes 1 to 8, helping them overcome foundational gaps in Tamil, English, and Mathematics.
What began as a hopeful intervention has now evolved into a success story of consistent student participation, measurable improvement in learning outcomes, and a growing sense of confidence among children and their communities.
Building Strong Foundations: What Is Eureka SuperKidz?
The Eureka SuperKidz initiative, operational in over 235 villages across 12 districts, is a structured after-school learning program that offers foundational literacy and numeracy support to rural children. Its primary objective is to strengthen core skills in Tamil, Math, and English through engaging, interactive teaching methods.
Thanks to Kwik Patch’s support, the initiative took root in ten selected villages, reaching over 380 children—76 in Classes 1 and 2, and 305 in Classes 3 to 8. These children were provided with thoughtfully designed learning materials and access to village-level tutoring centers, all underpinned by systematic teacher training and a focus on skill mastery.
Tutor Training: Laying the Groundwork for Success
The year’s third academic term began with a State-level training program for Block Trainers in early January. These trainers, in turn, mentored the Village Tutors—critical agents of change within the program. They received hands-on training on the curriculum and teaching strategies tailored for Term 3, including the use of new materials introduced in this phase.
Tutors were equipped with high-quality teaching aids: Ask-n-Say posters, Walk-n-Talk diaries, skill charts, flashcards, and tear-off worksheets, among others. These resources were designed to make classroom sessions interactive and visually engaging, thereby promoting better retention and group participation.
Term 3 Learning Materials: Designed for Impact
For English, the materials aimed at enhancing verbal expression and sentence formation. Students used practice cards and guided diaries to sharpen their listening and speaking skills. For Math, younger children received division workbooks, while older students engaged with content on fractions and algebra—subjects often perceived as challenging but now made accessible through contextual, activity-based learning.
Tutors also tracked student progress using outcome charts, enabling real-time adjustments to lesson plans and ensuring no child was left behind.
Measuring Progress: From Assessment to Achievement
Mid-March marked a critical juncture for the program with the Final Assessment of all participating students in Tamil, Math, and English. Skill tracking covered both oral and written competencies and offered tutors a clear picture of student progress. The results were both encouraging and inspiring.
Tamil (Classes 3–5)
- Story reading proficiency more than doubled from 20% in July 2024 to 48% in March 2025.
- Sentence reading rose from 52% to 69%, while word reading increased from 68% to 87%.
Mathematics
- In Classes 3–5, addition skills jumped from 47% to 90%, and multiplication from 35% to 75%.
- For Classes 6–8, algebra skills rose from 14% to 48%, while fraction proficiency improved from 41% to 65%.
English Language Skills
- Among younger students, the ability to answer questions using complete sentences rose from 10% to 53%.
- Older students demonstrated growth from 22% to 70% in sentence-level responses.
These outcomes illustrate the program’s tangible impact, made possible by consistent tutor engagement, child-friendly pedagogy, and continuous assessment.
Celebration of Learning: The Declaration Event
To commemorate the children’s achievements, each Eureka village hosted a Declaration Event, drawing enthusiastic participation from parents and the local community. The event was an occasion not just to showcase academic progress, but to celebrate growing confidence and creativity among students.
Children performed role-plays, explained science concepts like the digestive system, and engaged in storytelling—all in English. Many had never spoken publicly before, let alone in a second language. The pride on their faces—and on the faces of their parents—spoke volumes.
Medals and certificates were awarded to the children, and special recognition was given to the tutors, block trainers, and volunteers who made these successes possible. The event became a testament to what community-supported education can achieve when driven with passion and purpose.
Case in Point: Madhumitha’s Journey
One particularly inspiring story is that of Madhumitha, a 7th standard student from Natarajapuram village. Her mother, Muthutamizh Selvi, is employed at Kwik Patch and enrolled her daughter in the program in November 2024, concerned about her struggles in Tamil and English.
Initial assessments revealed Madhumitha was lagging significantly. But thanks to the nurturing support at the Eureka Center and access to colorful, engaging materials, she began to thrive. Today, Madhumitha not only participates in spoken English sessions and storytelling activities with confidence but has also started exploring tinkering lab skills like basic plumbing and electrical wiring.
Her transformation—from a hesitant learner to a confident performer—embodies the very essence of the Eureka SuperKidz mission. Today, her mother feels proud and hopeful. She sees real change in her daughter’s learning and confidence, and appreciates the efforts of AID INDIA and Kwik Patch in creating such meaningful opportunities for village children.
Looking Ahead: Sustaining the Momentum
While much has been achieved, the journey is far from over. Some advanced learning levels remain challenging, and there is a need for continued support and targeted strategies to ensure that every child crosses key skill thresholds. But with the foundation laid this quarter, the path ahead looks promising.
Kwik Patch’s commitment to the Eureka SuperKidz program is a powerful example of how corporate social responsibility can deliver lasting, community-wide impact. By investing in grassroots education, Kwik Patch is not just funding a project—they are nurturing future-ready learners and stronger village communities.
In Summary
The January–March 2025 quarter for the Eureka SuperKidz initiative, supported by Kwik Patch, has been one of meaningful growth, renewed confidence, and visible transformation in the lives of hundreds of rural children. From training tutors to distributing enriched learning materials, from conducting assessments to celebrating progress—the program is making foundational education more inclusive, effective, and empowering.
And for every Madhumitha who stands up today to speak in English or solve a math problem with confidence, the impact of this initiative becomes clear: this is not just education—it is opportunity in action.
